The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has recently announced its new initiative for advancing health research networks in Sub-Saharan Africa. A call for proposals for funding a preparatory phase of projects is now open. The BMBF is investing in science partnerships with African countries with the aim of helping the partner countries solve major international health challenges.
The selection process of the research networks will be carried out in two phases:
1. Preparatory phase: German-African research consortia have the opportunity to present their ideas for a research network and be funded for up to six months.2. Implementation phase: Successful consortia will able to submit their network proposals (spring/summer 2014) for implementation funding for a period of up to five years.
The call text and additional information are available at http://www.internationales-buero.de/african-health-networks/index.php.
Interested parties who wish to establish a consortium or to participate in a consortium but do not have the necessary partners or contacts can register and look for partners at http://www.internationales-buero.de/african-health-networks/partnering.
